Our Story

Get Technology Together C.I.C. is Community Interest Company limited by Guarantee established as a legacy project that emerged from the Get IT Together partnership project with Leeds City Council, British Telecom and Citizens Online. This project started in 2012 aimed at tackling the problem of digital exclusion within Leeds. At the end of the project in 2015 several community partner organisations were involved and volunteer digital trainers were recruited giving over 2,000 people the opportunity to learn basic digital skills. The staff and volunteers involved in delivering these results formed the steering group to create the new legacy organisation, Get Technology Together C.I.C.

Going forward the new organisation’s purpose is primarily driven by our community interest statement:

The company’s activities will provide benefit to individuals and community support organisations working in disadvantaged communities tackling poverty, unemployment, education, health, and social cohesion.
Work in partnership with local community organisations to ensure benefits are open and accessible to reach disadvantaged and hard to reach groups.
Work with statutory, private and voluntary sector organisations to attract investment into local technology projects and partnerships in deprived neighbourhoods.
